About

I am the homeschooling mama of 5 young ones, 4 boys and 1 girl.  With the home birth of our second child, our daughter, I discovered a passion and calling for midwifery.  I have been studying midwifery since, but am only now, seven years later, embarking on the pursuit of an apprenticeship which will hopefully allow me to gain my certification and licensure as a midwife.  In April 2004, I was received into the Catholic Church, after a year of intense study and a powerful conversion experience.  I am formerly a Baptist-leaning protestant.  I am also a bit of a political junkie, who likes to ponder the way things should be, as informed by my Catholic faith, and love a good debate.

  1. Bekah,

Thank you for your notes on my blog about clint consent and ethics. I’m actually in the midst of some very deep thinking about this right now (more on that at a future date) and found your thoughts uncannily (divinely?) timely. I have a consent form for posting generic birth info and photos, too. But it’s for use on a yet-to-be developed doula business website, not my blog. I like the wording in your statement and may adopt it. Thank you for sharing that.

  2. I’m glad you find it helpful!

  3. Bekah, saw your post over @ InternetMonk’s Scott McKnight/Mary essay. Am intrigued as to your conversion story (I never get tired of those). Would you be willing to share?

    Admiring homeschooling moms,

  4. Looking back through my archives, it seems I didn’t move the post about my conversion from the old group blog to which I belonged. I’ll have to write it up again, but it will have to be for another day. I’ve got several appointments today to get to.
